Created in 1994, the Faculty of Chemistry and Biology has the mission of teaching and conducting research, extension, and improvement in the areas of chemistry and biology sciences related disciplines. The unit is nationally and internationally recognized for its leadership in productivity and research quality. One of its main objectives is to create high impact scientific and technological knowledge pursuant to the needs of the country and the challenges imposed by society.
