With the presence of the highest authorities of Universidad de Santiago and distinguished guests related to this University, Dr. Juan Manuel Zolezzi presented the book that was published by the Vice Presidency of Outreach and Engagement. In almost 200 pages, it shows the milestones and imprint left by the School of Arts and Crafts, the State Technical University and the current Universidad de Santiago de Chile.

El Premio Nacional de Artes Plásticas 2013, reconocido por sus instalaciones en las que combina elementos de la fotografía, arquitectura y teatro, fue distinguido por la Universidad por su ejemplar labor artística que busca despertar la conciencia del espectador, y por su gran sensibilidad social y acción de resistencia a través del arte. En la oportunidad, se le confirió la medalla Institucional en su categoría primera.

The recipient of the 2013 National Award of Visual Arts, a highly regarded artist for his installations where he combines photography, architecture and theater, was honored by Universidad de Santiago for his artistic work that intends to raise the observer’s awareness and for his social sensitivity and resistance action though the arts. On the occasion, he was awarded the University Medal in the first category.

El rector de nuestra Universidad, Juan Manuel Zolezzi, suscribió la “Declaración de Santiago”, hito con el que se puso fin a tres días de discusión y debate en torno al rol de las universidades estatales. La instancia “Encuentro de Universidades Estatales de América Latina” reunió a los rectores y representantes de las principales casas de estudios superiores de la Región.

The president of Universidad de Santiago, Dr. Juan Manuel Zolezzi, signed the “Declaration of Santiago” (Declaración de Santiago, in Spanish), a landmark after three days of discussions and debates on the role of state universities. The “Latin American State Universities Conference” gathered together presidents and representatives of the main universities of the Region.

Plantel sube en el estudio internacional por quinto año consecutivo y hoy aparece en el tramo 461-470 de las mejores universidades del mundo. A nivel nacional mantiene su tercer lugar, después de las universidades Católica y de Chile.

The University went up in this international survey for the fifth year in a row and today it is included in the 461-470 rank of the best universities worldwide. In Chile, it keeps the third position, following Universidad Católica and Universidad de Chile.

La Comisión Nacional de Acreditación (CNA) informó que la Universidad de Santiago fue acreditada en las áreas obligatorias y electivas; es decir, Docencia de Pregrado, Gestión Institucional, Posgrado, Investigación y Vinculación con el Medio y la vigencia de dicha acreditación será hasta el 01 de octubre de 2020.
Ante  este positivo resultado, la  máxima  autoridad del Plantel, Dr. Juan Manuel Zolezzi Cid, agradeció a la comunidad  “por lo que hemos hecho entre todos por la Universidad y esperamos seguir avanzando en los desafíos que nos hemos planteado”.

The National Accreditation Commission (CNA, in Spanish), informed that Universidad de Santiago was accredited in the compulsory and optional areas, more precisely, Undergraduate Teaching, Institutional Management, Graduate Teaching, Research, and Outreach and Community Engagement, until October 1st, 2020.
Before this positive result, the highest authority of the University, Dr. Juan Manuel Zolezzi, expressed his gratitude to the community “for the work done by everyone at the University; we expect to continue making progress in the challenges that we have set ourselves.”

El ingeniero Eduardo Morales Santos (1936-2014) deja su sello de gran humanista y defensor de la  educación pública. Con esa visión de  futuro que lo caracterizó, impulsó la creación de carreras como Medicina, Periodismo, Psicología y Arquitectura, así como una serie de proyectos para convertir a la  U. de  Santiago en una institución de  excelencia.
