E2 Ingeniería: Chilean Smart Chargers Revolutionize Electromobility

The genesis of E2 Ingeniería lies with its founders, Dr. Enrique Espina, Dr. Matías Díaz, and Dante Carrasco, at the E2 Tech Research Center. It was within this environment that the team pinpointed a significant shortcoming in the electric vehicle charging infrastructure: its limited capacity, inefficiency, and absence of sophisticated management features. In response, they engineered electric chargers equipped with integrated energy management technology, enabling optimized utilization of the electrical grid.

Pioneering Sustainable Development: Usach’s First Open Innovation Results

USACH’s Sinapsis platform, a hub for open innovation in sustainable development, recently brought its inaugural challenges to a close. Dubbed Usach Sostenible and Estación Futuro, these initiatives successfully mobilized the diverse talents of the university’s students, academics, graduates, and staff. The result? Applied proposals that directly address critical needs both on the Santiago campus and throughout the city, showcasing the power of connecting academic talent with real-world problems.

Ciudad Vagón: Enhancing Urban Life Through Public Transportation

Ciudad Vagón is a replicable initiative from University of Santiago students that transforms unused urban spaces into vibrant, functional areas.

As the winner of the Estación Futuro challenge, the proposal emerged from an open innovation call. This initiative was a collaboration between the Innovation Center (CI) of the Faculty of Engineering (FING) and Metro de Santiago (the commissioning entity), operating within the Sinapsis Usach platform, part of the Directorate of Innovation and Entrepreneurship (Dinem).

U-Sensing: Usach Innovation Transforms Global Mining

The Chilean mining industry faces major challenges in improving the efficiency of its processes and optimizing mineral recovery. In this context, U-Sensing, a science and technology-based spin-off founded by academics Dr. Miguel Maldonado and Dr. Alfredo Artigas from the Department of Metallurgical Engineering at the University of Santiago, has positioned itself as a key player thanks to its innovative technology and outstanding position as a technology provider for mining.
