Professors Dr. Juan Sepúlveda, Dr. Astrid Oddershede and Dr. Felisa Córdova, who were invited by the International Academic Program, took part in a seminar where they acquired new tools for problem solving through creative thinking. This will considerably benefit the students and will allow improving and updating the Industrial Engineering curricula.
Investigador del Departamento de Historia, Dr. Maximiliano Salinas, fue invitado a Escuela de Verano de la Universidad de Concepción, donde abordó el significado de la fiesta como proceso histórico del país. “En la fiesta los pueblos se reencuentran con lo más primordial de su experiencia humana, espiritual y colectiva”, remarca el académico.
Dr. Maximiliano Salinas, researcher at the Department of History, was invited to Universidad de Concepción’s Summer School, where he talked about the meaning of festivities as part of the historical process of a country. “During festivities, people reencounter the essence of their human, spiritual and collective experience,” he stressed.
En reconocimiento a su vasta trayectoria en el área de electroquímica, el académico del Departamento de Química de los Materiales, Dr. José Zagal, fue invitado a ser parte del Comité Editorial de la revista “Electrochemistry Communications”, publicación de nivel internacional que ostenta el mayor índice de impacto en su área.
In recognition of his extensive career in the area of electrochemistry, Dr. José Zagal, professor at the Department of Chemistry of Materials, was invited to be part of the editorial board of Electrochemistry Communications, an international journal with the higher impact index in its field.
El académico Osvaldo García, fue invitado a exponer sobre la herramienta de auto observación organizacional CLEHES©, ante estudiantes posdoctorales del laboratorio Takashi Ikegami, institución especializada en vida artificial de esa universidad nipona.
Professor Osvaldo García was invited to give a presentation on an organizational self-observation tool, called CLEHES©, to postdoctoral students of Takashi Ikegami Laboratory, an institution specialized in the field of artificial life, at University of Tokyo.
La vicerrectora Académica, Fernanda Kri, informó que luego de aplicarse el Plan Piloto a más de mil estudiantes de la Facultad de Ingeniería, se comprobó que el sistema, que combina clases en línea con tutorías presenciales, funciona de manera equivalente a un curso tradicional. “El objetivo es implementar este sistema en todas las carreras de pregrado el primer semestre de 2014, propósito acorde a nuestro Plan Estratégico Institucional que establece el fomento del idioma inglés en nuestros estudiantes”, señaló la Dra. Kri.
The Academic Vice President, Fernanda Kri, said that after testing the pilot program in more than a thousand students of the Faculty of Engineering, the system that combines on-line learning opportunities with face-to-face sessions, proved to work in a similar way to a traditional course. “The goal is to implement this system for all our undergraduate programs in the first semester 2014, according to our Institutional Strategic Plan, which stipulates the promotion of the English language among our students,” Vice President Kri said.
Estudio liderado por el académico del Departamento de Ingeniería Metalúrgica, Dr. Miguel Maldonado, pretende de este modo, optimizar dicho proceso, mediante un nuevo equipamiento de medición de aire en línea.
