The Apollo II, the photovoltaic car developed by the Solar Car Team (Esus) of Universidad de Santiago de Chile, showed an outstanding performance during the eco- rally across the desert, covering the route in a little more than 22 hours and being one of the four cars in its category that managed to reach the finish line.

As the Executive Director of the Propedéutico Program of Universidad de Santiago and on behalf of academics from five national higher education institutions with inclusion experiences, professor Lorna Figueroa took part in the 4th Latin-American Conference on Higher Education Dropout (Medellín, Colombia), presenting an article that collects the experiences of universities that have successfully implemented the Propedéutico program, like Universidad de Santiago, among others.
Apolo II, el nuevo vehículo solar creado por estudiantes y tesistas del Equipo Solar de la Universidad de Santiago, Esus, se encuentra en etapa de ensamblaje. Durante esta semana, se tiene previsto concluir el montaje del área eléctrica con la estructura mecánica, mientras se termina de fabricar el fuselaje, que en esta ocasión será de fibra de vidrio y de carbono; las placas respectivas han sido elaboradas por Fibrovent, una de las empresas auspiciadoras.
The Apolo II, the new vehicle built by students and thesis students of Esus, the Universidad de Santiago’s Solar Vehicles Team, is being assembled these days. During this week, they expect to finish mounting the electrical wiring onto the mechanical structure while they finish the body shell that, this time, was made of carbon fiber and fiberglass; the sheets were manufactured by Fibrovent, one of the sponsoring companies.
María Soledad Gallardo, Ahinoam Fuentes y Sylvia Huenchufil son las alumnas del Programa “Nueva Esperanza, Mejor Futuro” que, junto a beneficiarios del Programa de Acompañamiento de Acceso Efectivo a la Educación Superior (PACE), asistieron al encuentro en La Moneda, donde la Mandataria felicitó a las y los jóvenes “por su talento y constancia”.
María Soledad Gallardo, Ahinoam Fuentes y Sylvia Huenchufil, students of the program “New Hope, Better Future”, together with participants of the PACE Program, met with the President at La Moneda, occasion on which she congratulated the young students “for their talent and perseverance.”
En la reunión, la señora Akie Abe, esposa del premier nipón, Shinzo Abe, dialogó en su idioma con los jóvenes asistentes y le entregó a cada uno, un obsequio. “Espero que pronto visiten Japón y antes, me avisan para que puedan visitar mi residencia”, les dijo.
At the meeting, the first lady Akie Abe, wife of the Japan´s Prime Minister, Shinzo Abe, talked in her own language with the young participants and gave each of them a gift. “I hope you visit Japan soon. Let me know in advance so that you can visit my house,” she said.
Con el objetivo de dar cumplimiento a las metas suscritas por nuestra Casa de Estudios, en el marco del Acuerdo de Producción Limpia “Campus Sustentable”, el programa de Responsabilidad Social Universitaria (RSU) desarrolló el Primer Taller de Capacitación en esta materia, orientado a estudiantes, académicos y funcionarios.
