Usach Hosts Talk Addressing the Challenges of Technology for Human Dignity

In a recent installment of “Protagonistas 2030,” Carolina Bonacic, academic and Strategic IT Director, discussed the role of digital transformation. The event, which drew a substantial audience of schoolchildren from the Metropolitan Region, also featured a presentation by the university’s Admissions Department on its 2026.

“Technology as a bridge to human dignity” is the name of the talk presented by Carolina Bonacic, director of Strategic IT at Usach and the Center for Innovation in Information Technology for Social Applications (CITIAPS), at the start of the eighth edition of Protagonistas 2030.

Convening the country’s complete educational ecosystem, the summit returns to Espacio Riesco, this time highlighting the inherent power of humanity to shape the future.

In addition to the talks, representatives from various institutions discussed and reflected on digital transformation.

“It is an event that allows us to reflect on the importance of the human element in the projection of new technologies,” said Rodrigo Vidal, rector of the University of Santiago.

In her capacity as university representative, Director Bonacic delivered a talk to over 100 high school students, focusing on the pertinent challenges in this field. She cited the example that if the inconvenience of physical queues has simply been replicated in the digital realm, a core issue remains unaddressed. Therefore, she contended, “technologies are obligated to contribute to the resolution of such problems.”

Usach has been working on these issues, said the academic. “That is the hallmark of our university, where we are at the forefront of technology, but we also go further and think about people and solutions that are in line with our citizens and our culture,” she said.

The talk “Technology as a bridge to human dignity” will be repeated this Wednesday, July 23, at 2:00 p.m. and broadcast on EMOL TV.

On the last day of the eighth edition of Protagonistas 2030, there will also be an Usach information stand about careers, scholarships, and benefits.

“It is always important for our university to be present at these milestones, where we sow the seeds of cultural change in the students who are about to enter higher education,” said Macarena Cárcamo, Head of the Admissions Department at the University of Santiago.
