The First Higher Education Inclusion Congress at our University gathered together international experts in this field, calling the attention of representatives of different universities, like professor and Co-director of the Center for Urban Education at the University of Southern California, Estela Mara Bensimon, who valued the “courage” that Universidad de Santiago de Chile has had to drive “transforming and exemplary” initiatives as the Propedéutico Program and the Grade Ranking, among others.

Con didácticos experimentos, charlas de especialistas, talleres, concursos y exposiciones, se llevó a cabo, durante tres días, la V Feria Científica Universidad de Santiago, actividad organizada por la Facultad de Química y Biología y consolidada como uno de los principales espacios de divulgación científica en Chile.
Para la coordinadora de la jornada, académica Leonora Mendoza, “es emocionante ver a los futuros profesionales de esta  Facultad tan comprometidos con esta iniciativa en la que estudiantes de muchos colegios pueden sentirse científicos por un día”.

With didactic experiments, presentations given by experts, workshops, contests and exhibitions, the 5th version of the Universidad de Santiago’s Scientific Fair was held for three days. The activity is organized by the Faculty of Chemistry and Biology and is recognized as one of the main activities for science dissemination in Chile.
According to the fair’s coordinator, Professor Leonora Mendoza, “it is encouraging to see how the future professionals of this Faculty are committed to this initiative, in which students from many schools can be scientists for a day.”

En seminario organizado por la Facultad de Ingeniería, representantes de la cuprífera estatal se refirieron a las implicancias del nuevo proyecto para la explotación subterránea de la mina Chuquicamata y que supone nuevas competencias y retos para sus operadores y profesionales.

At a seminar organized by the Faculty of Engineering, representatives of the state mining company talked about the implications of the new underground mining project for Chuquicamata, that will bring new challenges and will require operators and professionals to develop new competences.

En la reunión, la señora Akie Abe, esposa del premier nipón, Shinzo Abe, dialogó en su idioma con los jóvenes asistentes y le entregó a cada uno, un obsequio. “Espero que pronto visiten Japón y antes, me avisan para que puedan visitar mi residencia”, les dijo.

At the meeting, the first lady Akie Abe, wife of the Japan´s Prime Minister, Shinzo Abe, talked in her own language with the young participants and gave each of them a gift. “I hope you visit Japan soon. Let me know in advance so that you can visit my house,” she said.

La Dra. Kerryn McCluskey, de la Universidad de Queensland, sostuvo que además de vincular rápidamente al estudiante con el ejercicio docente, la práctica desde primer año facilita la definición vocacional.

Dr. Kerryn McCluskey, from the University of Queensland, said that besides quickly connecting students to teaching practice, practicum since first year of program helps students to determine on their vocation.

El Dr. Henry Cabrera, químico e investigador en el área de la Historia de las Ciencias de la Universidad del Valle (Colombia), invitado por la Facultad de Química y Biología, dictó la charla "Implicaciones para la enseñanza de las ciencias a partir de casos históricos", intervención en la que expuso acerca del desarrollo de estrategias que permitan la construcción de significado a través de la participación colectiva entre profesores y estudiantes, dejando de lado el modelo tradicional donde el dictado es preponderante.
