The National Agency for Research and Development (ANID)'s Fondecyt Regular competition, a primary source of research funding in Chile, empowers researchers to pursue high-impact projects across diverse disciplines. In its 2025 call, the University of Santiago secured funding for 31 projects across various knowledge areas, placing it fourth nationally and third among public universities.

The distribution of awarded projects sees the Faculty of Engineering at the forefront with 11, succeeded by the Faculty of Chemistry and Biology with seven awards and the Faculty of Science with five initiatives. Notably, both the Faculty of Humanities and the Institute of Advanced Studies are contributing three projects apiece, with the Faculty of Technology and the Center for Studies in Food Science and Technology (CECTA) each contributing one, underscoring the multifaceted research endeavors undertaken at Usach.

The Vice-Rector's Office for Research, Innovation and Creation (Vriic) acknowledged this outcome as evidence of the institution's strong commitment to advancing science and technology. Vice-Rector Dr. Alberto Monsalve emphasized, “The awarding of these 31 projects not only demonstrates the excellence of our university but also reflects our commitment to the development of knowledge and research as fundamental pillars of our institutional mission. At Usach, we understand that the generation of science and technology is key to the country's progress, and this result motivates us to continue supporting our researchers."

Dr. Maritza Páez, Director of Research, underscored Dicyt's commitment to empowering the research community: “Dicyt continues its work to strengthen the conditions that enable our scientists to develop high-impact projects. We are dedicated to supporting researchers throughout the entire project lifecycle, from application to implementation, offering the tools and assistance needed to solidify their research directions and project their findings both nationally and internationally.”
