The Diploma in Artificial Intelligence Applied to Education offered by the University of Santiago is designed to provide up-to-date training on artificial intelligence, contextualized to the Chilean reality and consistent with the guiding principles of international organizations such as UNESCO and the OECD in the field of education.

"We want to be at the forefront of teaching and applying artificial intelligence (AI) in the field of education in accordance with human rights and universal ethical principles," said the program's academic director, Dr. Daniver Morales, and the project leader, Dr. Ruth Yáñez, who highlight the strengths of the Faculty of Chemistry and Biology in the fields of education and neuroscience in offering this diploma.

Both academics maintain that digital literacy for teachers is essential today, as it allows them to acquire advanced technological skills and, at the same time, supports pedagogical decision-making in planning, teaching, and evaluation.

The online diploma course includes the following modules: Artificial Intelligence in Curriculum Planning and Decision-Making in Education; Artificial Intelligence Models Applied to the Design of Teaching and Learning Units; and Artificial Intelligence Tools for the Design of Assessment Instruments.

“We believe it is necessary to teach the scope, limitations, and biases that artificial intelligence can have in the field of education,” said the academics, who also affirmed that its use should be guided by ethical principles that promote the well-being and human rights of the people who make up school communities, as well as a commitment to equity and inclusion.

The program is designed for a wide range of professionals, including those in pedagogy, education, psychology, and psychopedagogy. It also targets health professionals and individuals in scientific fields such as chemistry, pharmacy, biotechnology, biochemistry, and biology.

Classes will be held on Fridays from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Applications are now open and can be submitted through the following link. For any questions, please email: marielapilquinir@usach.cl.
