Faculty of Engineering Scholar Publishes Research in Prestigious Journal Nature

During the end of the last ice age, vast quantities of CO2, previously sequestered deep within the ocean, surged to the Southern Ocean’s surface and were released into the atmosphere, significantly contributing to global warming. However, it was theorized that some of this stored oceanic carbon might have been swept up and transported directly northward to the eastern equatorial Pacific upwelling region by Antarctic Intermediate Water (AAIW) and Subantarctic Modal Water (SAMW).

Language as a Key to Early Neurodegenerative Disease Detection

A National Fund for Scientific and Technological Development (Fondecyt) grant has been awarded to Dr. Adolfo García, a cognitive neuroscientist focused on language and interpersonal communication. His project, ‘Digital speech and language markers of extrasylvian dysfunction in neurodegeneration,’ seeks to identify specific digital indicators within speech and language that can reveal brain dysfunction associated with neurodegenerative diseases.

The project “Collaboration and participatory governance system between establishments and reintegration programs for educational support,” led by Dr. Claudia Córdoba of the University's Faculty of Humanities' Department of Education, proposes using computer technology to facilitate interaction between schools and programs for the reentry and reintegration of primary and secondary students.

He, along with Dr. Karla Barajas-Portas (Anahuac University, Mexico) and Dr. Leslier Valenzuela-Fernández (University of Chile), has published a compelling article in the prestigious Review of Managerial Science, a Q1 journal in the Management category of the SSCI index.
